THE OBJECTIVE

Restoring a Hayesville Home After Fallen Tree Damage

When a tree came down on this Hayesville home, it left the house damaged and unlivable.

When we first met Jessica and her mother, they were incredibly welcoming, but understandably nervous. Their home had suffered significant storm and tree-impact damage, and the amount initially approved by their insurance company did not come close to reflecting the full scope of repairs needed.

They trusted Skyland Roofing, and they trusted the process.

Our team worked through the claim and properly documented the damage. In the end, we secured approval for new siding on the entire back and right side of the home, allowing us to replace the damaged areas while bringing the exterior up to today’s building-code requirements.

But the damage went far beyond the siding.

THE JOB

Structural Repairs, a Full Re-Deck, and Exterior Restoration

The tree came through the roof, so the structure came first. Our team fully repaired six rafters that had been cracked or split completely in half, then completed a full roof re-deck. The existing plywood decking was extremely thin and no longer provided the solid foundation the home needed. Over the new decking we installed Owens Corning Duration shingles in Desert Rose.

On the exterior, we repaired more than 120 linear feet of damaged soffit and fascia caused by the tree impact, replaced the siding on the back and right elevations, and installed new gutters to complete the system.

Inside, we removed damaged drywall from three rooms and a bathroom, installed new insulation and sheetrock throughout the affected areas, and replaced water-damaged flooring with new flooring.

The Result

What started as an overwhelming situation for Jessica and her mother turned into a complete restoration of their home. By the time the project was finished, their home wasn’t simply repaired. It was stronger, safer, and better than it was before the storm.
